51st Annual General Meeting

The Insurers Association of Mauritius (IAM) held its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 27 March 2024 at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, in Port Louis.


The President of IAM, Dr Rishi Sookdawoor presented the IAM 2023 Annual Review, highlighting the key achievements and progress made, and the key challenges to be addressed. He commented on the insurance industry being resilient, agile, and adaptable to complex economic and social challenges. He also commended the members of the Association for sustaining growth during challenging times, both in the long-term and general insurance business, as well as on their prudent management, good governance, customer centricity, and proper conduct.


Dr Sookdawoor also put forward IAM's key strategic focus for the year 2024-2025, emphasising the need to strengthen the insurance sector with an improved market penetration for both long-term and general insurance, while embracing technology and innovations, and enhancing knowledge about risks and insurance solutions to mitigate them.


He re-interated IAM's commitment to continue advocating for the right reforms to build an insurance industry that will continue to drive progress and protect the social and economic landscape in Mauritius.



The event was marked by the presence of the Director of the Ministry of Financial Services & Good Governance, Mr Kresh Seebundhun, the Director of Supervision of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Mrs Renu Audit, the Chairperson of the Insurance Industry Compensation Fund, Me Kivisha Goodar, the Chairperson of the Financial Services Fund, Ms Lakshmi Appadoo, and the Assistant Director of the FSC, Mr Akash Mishra.
